Hey Neighbors,
Welcome to Issue 2: Nature & Nurture. This one’s for the dads, the dirt, and the people who raised us right (or at least gave it a decent shot).
It’s Father’s Day weekend, and we’re leaning into the rugged side of summer: wild trails, redwoods, and forested escapes. In this issue:
A Napa house that feels like your own private woodland retreat.
Your next favorite shop to bring the outdoors, in.
A Guerneville getaway with hotel picks that won’t totally wreck your wallet.
A few hikes that remind you you’re alive.
And of course, all the events, activities, and live music schedules you can handle.
Don’t forget to call your dad (or thank the people who showed up like one).
— Kristy

Fourth Quarter Moon in Pisces: Time to Compost Our Emotional Baggage
Heads up: we’re rolling into a Fourth Quarter Moon in Pisces on June 18. Pisces is dreamy, psychic, and a little slippery. Not exactly great for productivity, but perfect for composting your emotional baggage.
Meanwhile, Mars charges into Virgo on the 17th with a clipboard and a passive-aggressive to-do list. Suddenly, your dream journal’s getting critiqued like a quarterly report. There’s tension here: Pisces wants to float, Virgo wants to fix. You're either dancing in a field or reorganizing your spice rack out of existential panic. Maybe both.
Fight for the dream, but pack tissues and make a plan.
NATURE NOTES: PERFECT WEEKEND AHEAD
🌬️ Air Quality: good
🌳 Pollen Count: low on trees, zilch on everything else
☀️ Weather: mostly sunny weekend with clouds and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s

Two Homes Making Nature the Main Character
If your idea of a good time includes dirt under your nails, trees for neighbors, and a property line you can’t see without a hike, then you’re gonna love these.
Let’s start with 4512 Dry Creek Road ($899,000). It’s a cozy little ranch house on nearly 2 acres, surrounded by oaks, creekside calm, and that off the beaten path energy that makes you want to plant something (maybe a garden, maybe a new version of yourself). It’s unpretentious, peaceful, and begging for someone who wants a little space to breathe without selling a kidney.

And then there’s 1114 Mount George Avenue ($1.9M), which is... well, a flex. Nearly 3.5 acres of redwoods, wraparound decks, a pool, hot tub, pizza oven, and more rooms than most people know what to do with. It’s giving retreat energy but for everyday life. Think of it as your own private resort.

Whether you want land to roam or just need a buffer between you and your neighbors, these homes let nature do the heavy lifting, and remind you that square footage doesn’t just apply to the house.
Stop Wasting Water (And Money)
Lawn owners: this week you can join a local landscape pro and some smart gear folks to get your sprinkler game in shape during Water Wise Landscaping Workshops. Learn how to fix waste, master your watering schedule, and upgrade to a weather-savvy system that basically thinks for you. Just in time for peak watering season.

Your Next Fave: Riza Plants
It started in a dorm room in Oahu with a plant obsession that definitely veered into 'personality trait' territory. Fast forward, and Napa native Alyssa Piombo turned that leafy love into Riza Plants, a downtown shop that feels more like a botanical gallery-slash-vibe sanctuary than your run-of-the-mill nursery.

Riza opened in 2020 and quickly became the go-to for locals who want their living rooms to feel a little more alive, but without all the guesswork. Alyssa’s a certified Master Gardener with a design brain and a serious eye for curation. She and her team deliver handpicked greenery, chill-but-helpful guidance, and the uncanny ability to match you to the perfect plant you didn’t know you needed.
Now that I think about it, Riza isn’t just a plant shop. Alyssa and her team are actually running a botanical matchmaking service. No swipe lefts or bad first dates required.
📍Riza Plants | 1300 1st Street, Suite 355 | Open Wed-Sun
Grow Together: What Riza’s Collab Game Can Teach Small Biz
Alyssa Piombo is growing plants, sure, but she’s also growing a network. Riza Plants has become known for its offbeat, heart-forward collabs that bring a little extra soul to the scene. You may have seen the Mother’s Day plant-and-coffee combo with Naysayer Coffee: a simple, joyful pairing that made gifting feel thoughtful and local.
“I always ask myself: does this collab make people feel something? Is it rooted in care and connection? If the answer is yes, I’m in,” Alyssa says.
Local collaborations are both cute and strategic. Partnering up with others that share your values and your vibe means new audiences, shared marketing, and a deeper sense of community buy-in. Instead of competing for attention, you’re co-creating it. That’s the kind of growth that lasts.

One to Order: The Burger at Silverado Mansion Bar
IYKYK. Silverado’s burger isn’t just resort-good, it’s actually one of the best around. It’s bold, beefy, and borderline legendary — I used to work Silverado’s front desk and heard guests wax poetic about it daily.

Image: Silverado Resort
Good news: this Father’s Day, the Mansion Bar is serving up a Bourbon & Burger Bundle — $25 gets Dad a juicy burger plus a premium bourbon pour. That’s a deal no matter which way you look at it. And you don’t have to be a guest to partake. Bonus: the service is as dialed as the seasoning.
Hot Tip: Sit on the terrace and take in the views. Weather’s going to be great this weekend.
📍Mansion Bar | Sunday, June 15 | 3–10PM
SMALL BITES: FOOD NEWS
Heads up: Carabao — the new Filipino-forward spot from a team of French Laundry alums — opens next week. RESY books are open starting on Sunday, June 21. Snag that table.
Chef, author, and all-around Napa Valley legend, Cindy Pawlcyn gets her tacos from Azteca Market and you should, too.
New Valley culinary darling (or should I say “playground”), Under-Study, opens, then closes again due to permitting issues. TBD on when they’ll be back up.
A $10 sandwich in Napa? Unheard of… until The Food Mill reopened with a new menu (and new owners).

Take a Hike, Dad (Literally): 5 Trails for Weekend Adventures
Whether your dad (or beloved dad stand-in) is the type to quote John Muir or just needs a break from Facebook, a solid walk in the woods might be the real Father’s Day gift. These trails range from “let’s catch up” strolls to “bring snacks and Advil” adventures. Choose accordingly.

Robert Louis Stevenson State Park (Mount Saint Helena)
The full-send summit hike. This 5-mile climb takes you straight to the top of Mt. Saint Helena where, if the skies are clear, you can see all the way to Mt. Shasta. Big views, big reward, and big bragging rights.Bothe-Napa Valley State Park (Redwoods & Creekside)
If forest bathing had a home address, this would be it. Meander under massive redwoods, trace the creek, and maybe end up at a historic mill—because nature and history are really vibing.Lake Hennessey Shoreline + Moore Creek Loop
It’s lakeside wandering with bonus wildflowers and bird sightings. This chill 4–6 mile loop is part shady canyon, part scenic shore, and 100% "wait, did I just see an eagle?"Skyline Wilderness Park (Skyline + Manzanita Loop)
A solid middle-ground hike when you want to sweat but not suffer. Expect ridge views, oak groves, and just enough quiet to finally let dad talk for once.Napa Valley Vine Trail
Paved, pretty, and made for movement. Walk, bike, or vibe your way through vineyard-lined miles with public art and golden light along the way. Pack snacks because you’ll want to take your time.
Got a hike that doesn’t miss? Hit reply and tell us about it!

This Weekend: Big Pours, Big Trees, Big West Wine Fest
If you’re craving a weekend escape with serious natural charm and even better wine, head for the redwoods. Big West Wine Fest is bringing the good energy (and some amazing natty wines) to Guerneville.
It’s not just a wine fest either — you can spend an entire day lounging amongst the towering redwoods at Solarpunk Farms during Big West, so make a day of it.

Image: Big West Wine Fest on Instagram
Take note: Saturday passes are sold out so your options are Sunday only or spring for a two-day pass. I still recommend going up for the entire weekend because, why not?
