Hey Napa.
The faire is back (and loud), Thomas Keller’s flipping burgers again (you’ve got 10 weeks), and somehow we still have a $130M jail that no one is using. Plus: sports, fresh tomatoes, and Victorian real estate that might make you believe in ghosts and modern upgrades.
Welcome to this week’s edition—your guide to what’s happening, what’s reopening, and what’s quietly brewing in town this week.
Let’s get into it!
NEWS
Jail Drama: That $130M correctional facility in south Napa is somehow still not being used as a jail.
Indoor Elite Sports Pavilion destined for Coombs Street in 2026.

Cue the Corn Dogs: The Triumphant Return of the Napa Town and Country Faire
Gird your funnel‑cake cravings: the Napa Town & Country Fair makes its annual return today with all the thrills you remember from your childhood (Ferris wheel, deep‑fried everything, arts & crafts) but now on a whole new level.

Expect fresh mid‑summer magic like pirate-themed magic by Capt’n Jack Spareribs, BMX Pros Trick Team stunts and a brand‑new 6,000 sq ft interactive “AG Alley” where kids can milk fake cows (leave the real ones alone?), collect eggs, and learn about local farming. Live music is included with admission: Tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival sets the stage Thursday, followed by Nashville sensation Chase Matthew on Friday, Ying Yang Twins shake it like a saltshaker on Saturday, and Banda Carnaval’s Sunday Latin fiesta. Entry tickets go fast—the weekend is likely to sell out.

FOOD & DRINK
Your Favorite Pandemic Pop-Up Just Made a Comeback
Thomas Keller’s cult-favorite pandemic pop-up Burgers and Half Bottles is back—10 weeks only, and just as decadent-disguised-as-casual as you remember with perfectly charred patties, crisp fries, and a rotating cast of half bottles.

And this time around, they’re leaning into the vibes:
Wednesdays: Pint Night (yes, that Pliny is on tap)
Thursdays: BYOB with zero corkage
Fridays: Happy Hour from 3–5 (come early, stay smug)
Sundays: Sportsball on screen, fries in hand
It’s luxe in a hoodie. Go now, or regret it later.
📍6518 Washington St. Yountville | WED-THU 12PM-8PM / FRI-SUN 12PM-5PM
Small Bites: Food News
The old Yountville Compadres-turned-Perry’s will soon take on a new life as Wylde, a Spanish-Portuguese tapas joint.
Because Yountville can’t stop launching top-tier restaurants, mark your cals for Clementine, opening next week on the 14th.
Back to School: Kids eat free at Heritage Eats from Aug 13-22. Teachers also get 10% off all month long.
Thedas Ice Creamery, churning up flavors like Scottish Tablet (!?!), is hiring and is set for a September opening.
REAL ESTATE
Another Day, Another Victorian Dream Home
But this might actually be the one. Built in 1895 and just blocks from downtown, 643 3rd Street brings the best of Old Town Napa charm with a clean, modern finish.
You still get all the romantic flourishes: the asymmetrical gables, turned porch columns, turreted tower, and original woodwork. But inside, it’s been tastefully updated with crisp white walls, soft natural light, and wide-open rooms that feel more gallery than antique shop. The kitchen is fresh and functional. The bathrooms are fully upgraded, no clawfoot tubs in sight (unless you're into that). It’s $1.48M, so snatch it up if you’ve got the bag.

PS: If this listing has you tempted to zigzag through Old Town like a Victorian detective, don’t sleep on the Napa Abajo Historical Self-Guided Walking Tour Guide. It’s filled with architectural gems and insider backstories. Check it out on Insta, and save our Google Map for easy reference on the go.
PET OF THE WEEK
Chica’s Got Big Dog Energy, With an Even Bigger Heart
Chica is an 81-pound, 1-year-old Akita with a goofy grin and a whole lot of love to give. She’s spayed, sweet, and seriously ready to be your new best friend. Swing by 942 Hartle Ct. or call 707‑253‑4382 to meet her.
Bonus: adoption fees are waived. Come get your girl.
That’s it for this week. If you like what you see, be sure to refer a friend (or two)!
Until next time…
